Here is the Official, Unofficial Roatan Bruce Weather Forecast for today!
Skies
are again clear this morning and will remain that way for the entire
weekend. There is a weather front trying to make its way up from
Panama. It is bringing a lot of rain and stormy weather. It is just
approaching the southern part of Honduras now, but I do not think it is
going to get here with the strong tradewinds out of the north pushing
it back down before it gets to us. Lot's of
sunshine is the call for the entire weekend. Highs will be
87 to 88, lows will be 79 to 80. Lower winds out of the east at 15 to
20 mph, meaning we w will continue to have nice cool breezes to keep
the feel of the temperatures down as we begin to get warmer and warmer
as we start our approach to summer. Relative
humidity is at
just 75%. Barometric pressure is at 29.83 and rising. Sunset
will be at 5:18 am and sunset will be at 6:07 pm.
It
should be another beautiful day in paradise. If you are here
vacationing on the island, go out to the beaches and enjoy it.

The
Maypole event on Honduran Labor Day was a great success!Wonderful time
at the beach at Los Palmas Beach Resort! Great Berties famous
BBQ, The Steel Drum Band, The Garifuna danced and sang and Carlene and Dave were wonderful! There
were kids demonstrations of Tai Kwon Do and the ballet group of French Harbour.
The Volleyball Tournament by the best players on Roatan was great to
watch.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There were games for kids including a bouncer from REMAX. Lorin
Starr and The Roatan Women’s Club sponsored the Maypole
Event and did an incredible job. The most rewarding was to see what
they created! Hundreds of people enjoyed the day from all parts of
Roatan. People came from east and west, and all cultures came together
and had a peaceful, enjoyable day. Everyone
was invited and they all came out! The ladies raised money for Valerie
Nelson and Familias Saludables to help them purchase much needed
formula for mothers and babies with HIV?AIDS. It was a great day
for everyone! Congratulations Roatan Woman's Club for creating this
wonderful opportunity for everyone to enjoy their Labor Day holiday!
2008 Powerade Bay Islands Triathlon was a success!
Everybody
was invited, but only some came out to witness a worldclass,
international event right here in our backyard. Where was everyone?
Where were all the volunteers from local neighborhoods that filled the
finish line areas in years past? Where were all the school kids that
were so excited and enthusiastic in previous years?
Everyone was invited to
come out to West Bay Beach on Sunday. Even with limited radio, banner and flyer exposure,
more of you would have come out to see this incredible event by some
athletes that will be seen on international television this summer at
the Summer Olympics in China. Why didn't you come out? If
you haven't been to one before, you will have to wait another year to
see it again. If you have been to
them before, you know how exciting they can be to cheer the runners in.
I announced the event live on the beach. I only recognized a few
faces. If you have a good reason why you did not attend, (other than
you were somewhere else in the world) please e-mail me those reasons. I
would like to know why so few of you were there.
2008 Powerade Bay Islands Triathlon presented two new events!
On Friday, May 2nd at West Bay Beach, lots of people took part in the
first Powerade 5Km Family Walk/Run. Many ran the course that will
be
used by the athletes. Anyone over 15
could have participated. The Kid's Beach Race took place at
5:45 for kids 4 to 14. There was
no charge. The run took place on the beach and used the same finish
line as the Triathlon. It was a very successful event!
The Roatan Bruce Show is the only English speaking (non-religious) talk
radio programming on the Bay Islands. It is the main source of
important, timely interviews and information for English speaking
residents and visitors on the Bay Islands and Northern Honduras.
In addition to playing many of the most popular and upbeat Soul and
R& B music from the 50's, 60's and 70's, Roatan Bruce hosts top
business, community, political and real estate leaders who share
important information about the islands and greater Honduras. Roatan
Bruce has already interviewed 300 people.
One of the most unique factors about the show is that for the first
time, businesses can now promote their products or services to the
thousands of English speaking people and tourists on the Bay Islands
and northern mainland Honduras on both radio and television.
Honduras Media!
Roatan Bruce Interviews is now a weekly column in The Honduras This
Week, Honduras' only weekly English speaking newspaper. Look for the
best of the past Roatan Bruce Show interviews and the most important
information spoken by the experts themselves on all the most
interesting subjects to be written in the columns now and in the coming
weeks and months.
April 2008
Wednesday, April 30th. Nora El Goulli is a Doctor of Pharmacy, and the Founder
of Medicines for Roatan, a Honduran non-profit organisation which was created
in 2007, to provide prescription medicines for the poor in the Bay
Islands. Medicines for Roatan
celebrates its first year of existence this month. Medicines for Roatan
has so far provided 25,000 treatments to the Roatan public hospital. Nora El
Goulli will be telling us more about the medicines situation in the Bay
Islands.
April 22 - Tony "The Tiger" Lopez -
the three time World Boxing
Champion, was on the show with Mayor Dale Jackson, The Governor
Arlie Thompson and many others who showed up to meet Tony.
This great interview will open the way for the island to build a
new a sports facility to help keep kids off the streets and into
disciplined, organized team sports.
April 16th, Phil Brown - one of Roatan's newest residents and
part owner of Cool Beans Coffee Shop in West Bay Beach Mall, recently
returned from a 7 week trip to Nepal and India - I recently watched
his slides at an Islands Friends meeting - originally intended
as a vacation with an old friend, it turned into a personal physical
challenge pushing him beyond anything he's experienced before
- as well as a spiritual pilgrimage affecting his life greatly.
April
14th - Matthew Harper, the Interim General manager for RECO chosen
by Kelcy Warren, was on the show giving an in-depth description
of the activities at RECO to deleiver the best service possible
in the future.
April
11th - The King Squad - our very own internationally known rap
group, chose the show to premier their new CD. It was a great
show and a lot of fun.
.
April
4th - Kelcy Warren, the new major stockholder and soon owner
of RECO was a guest at the 106.5 FM studios. The ten minute interview
was recorded for airing next week. There were problems recording
the interview with the recorder. Please have patience with the quality
of the sound. Thanks
April 3rd - Sinthia Solomon and
Freddy Fernandez, a representative of D.E.I , the Honduran
version of the I.R.S, came on to explain the crazy law created to
limit fuel consumption. Crazy because the plan cannot work here
on Roatan like it will on the mainland. You have to hear this interview.
March 2008
March
27 - The Commissario Julio Benitez
was on the show to talk about security issues during Semana Santa.
We also talked about the problems a few one sided and self-serving
reporters from the Phoenix area have caused for our Sisterhood Law
Enforcement Project started by the Maricopa County Sherrif's Department.
Please listen to this interview to see how damaging a few people
can be to ruin it for the safety, security and protection for us
in The Bay Islands and all of Honduras. Maybe we should all contact
the publisher of the Arizona Republic newspapers to voice our opinions
about the awful job of reporting a competing underground newspaper
is doing to hurt us here.
March 21th - Mayor Dale Jackson
spent the hour talking about many of the most important
issues to
people living on the island and around the world who care about
Roatan. We talked about many subjects such as repairing the roads,
education, health care, RECO and the changes at the garbage dump
and more.
Full interview is available.
March 18th - National Police Commissario
Julio Benitez talked about the security measures being taken
to ensure the safety of everyone on the islands. Also discussed
was the biased and self serving, one sided journalism by one or
two newspaper reporters in the Phoenix, Arizona area that may prevent
the very successful sisterhood training program that has been so
helpful to the under tranied, under equipment Honduran police force.
We are not sure how those writers can sleep at night trying to sabotage
training that could help so many Hondurans for years to come for
selfish political reasons.
March 17 - RECO GM Humberto Meza
and Italo Tugliani, the lawyer representing Kelcy Warren,
the new owner of RECO, were interviewed and shared the latest.
January
2008
January 31st - The esteemed lawyer Italo Tugliani, the man who authored the new "Free Trade Zone" Agreement.
January 29th - Aaron was again on to talk about the Davos World Economic Forum.
Susan Jensen was on the show to talk about World Yoga Day on Sunday,
when the entire world did yoga during the same two hours to support a
world peace effort at Palmetto Bay Plantation from 11 am to 1 pm.
January 10th - Aaron - Called in from the state of Florida. Aaron has
submitted a direct video response to a contest called the DAVOS
QUESTION, part of a World Economic Forum taking place in Switzerland
with many of the worlds top leaders. He is attempting to improve the
quality of life in Central America. The question is “What one thing do
you think can countries, companies, or individuals do to make the world
a better place in 2008” He believes that a Central AMERICAN Union is
the answer.
If you would like to participate and help this cause, do the following until January 23rd. First go to http://www.youtube.com/itwasaaron.
You can Click the video and read the description, or you can follow the
direct link to the Davos question on my video profile. Type in
itwasaaron on the vote/view screen. When the video appears in the
middle of the screen, it’s a simple as clicking on the last star or the
thumb up, or a thumb down to vote. I suggest that you take the time to
read the description to get a better understanding of what he trying to
do.
January 7th, 9th. On January 3rd, I had a private, exclusive one hour
interview with former President Maduro. It was a wonderful experience.
He is a great man and you will be able to hear this up-close interview
on the website.
January 4th - Zachary Kaplan from Georgetown University in Washington,
D.C. and Muse America, an organization he started in upstate NY to help
school systems in underprivledged areas. He was on the show to tell us
about how he can help our Bay Island schools.
January 3rd - Dave Oliver with Herb Morici.
Dave played briefly with the Cleveland Indians before coming a coach.
In college, his 226 career hits held the Cal Poly record for 23 years,
and his .320 career average and 112 runs ranked in the top 10 at the
time of his induction. He also ranked second to Ozzie Smith in at bats
with 706 and third with 13 career triples.
He used his baseball knowledge to produce a stellar career as a manager
and coach. He was the Manager of the Year for the Triple A Oklahoma
City 89ers and also served as a major league coach with the Texas
Rangers and Boston Red Sox where he coiached players like Nolan Ryan,
Roger Clemens, Ivan Rodriguez and many others. We will also talk about
organizing sports programs here on the island to help keep kids off the
streets and learning organized and coached sports.
